The aim of this module is to build on the knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding communication introduced in year one and develop the key personal, professional, and inter-professional communication skills essential for occupational therapy practice. There are two components to this module. Part one focuses on inter-professional learning and communication, person centred care and team working. Part two focuses on the communication skills for occupational therapy practice.

Learning Outcomes
  1. To demonstrate appropriate and professional interprofessional working, collaboration and decision making
  2. To demonstrate appropriate verbal and non- verbal communication which can be adapted appropriately when working with with clients, carers, families, as well as other health and social care professionals
  3. To demonstrate appropriate written communication skills relevant to practices standard
  4. To apply the theories and professional standards as well as work place expectations to both written and verbal communication in practice
  5. To demonstrate a working knowledge augmentative and alternative communication approaches including the use of assistive technology
