Accommodation Management To provide an overall understanding and appreciation of the skills required both in the management and operation of the Accommodation Services Department. Front Office Management The aim of this is to build on the knowledge students gained in Year 1 and Year 2 by increasing their understanding of the management aspect of the Front Office department with theoretical underpinning.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe and understand the role of the Accommodation Services Department and the integration of management concepts as they apply to the position of the Accommodation Manager.
  2. Identify the Accommodation Manager's responsibility in relation to the budget planning process.
  3. Discuss the application of performance and productivity standards in planning the work of the accommodation department.
  4. Examine the design process within guest rooms and public-areas and the decisions that need to be made and why.
  5. Comprehend effective staffing and scheduling practices for the Accommodation Services Department.
  6. Outline the importance of selecting the right contractors and to ensure that the quality of work is maintained as at the onset of the business.
  7. Have a critical understanding of the role of the modern Front Office Manager.
  8. Budgeting within a Hotel Department.
  9. Understand the importance of rate controls.
  10. Have a critical understanding of the role of Revenue Management with the Front Office Department.
  11. Have a critical understanding of the importance of technology to the Front Office Department.
