Peter Dockery is the Established Professor of Anatomy and Director of Biological Imaging at NUI, Galway. His microscopy and stereology research extends from human reproduction through neurobiology to material science.
Professor Dockery has established the Centre for Microscopy and Imaging at NUI, Galway, a key node in the National Biophotonics and Imaging Platform. The centre provides a comprehensive imaging research infrastructure including both personnel and instrumentation. The key value of biophotonics and imaging in the life and medical sciences is in placing function in a structural context and quantifying molecular activity.
His clinical targets interests include Diabetes Mellitus, Cancer, Neurological dysfunction and Cardiovascular dysfunction.
Professor Dockery was inducted as a Fellow of the Anatomical Society. He is a former Assistant Secretary and Council Member of the Anatomical Society, and the National Biophotonics and Imaging Platform.
Professor Dockery has published over 265 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He was the former Assistant Secretary and Council Member of the Anatomical Society, National Biophotonics and Imaging Platform EMB.
Professor Dockery serves on the Editorial Board of four journals and is a referee for five. He is a grant reviewer for the Anatomical Society NIH Health Research Board, Wellbeing Trust, and Wellcome Trust.
