Dementia Carer’s Research Project

Dementia Research

Caring for a Person with a Recent Diagnosis of Dementia

Researchers at NUI Galway invite family carers, who are supporting people diagnosed with dementia or probable dementia since the beginning of 2017, to take part in a research study

What is the study about?

This study is being undertaken by the Centre for Economic and Social Research on Dementia at NUI Galway. It is about informing service providers and policy makers of the needs of primary carers and people with dementia in the two years following diagnosis. We are interested in getting carers views on current services and supports.

Who can participate?

Anybody who is currently the primary carer of somebody diagnosed with dementia or probable dementia since the beginning of 2017.

What’s involved?

If you agree to be a participant in this research, you will be asked to complete a survey that can be posted to you, or, if you prefer, completed online. It will ask about your current situation, and services you and your loved one use. The survey takes about 40 minutes to complete. We will also offer the option to participate in a follow-up survey in 12 months to see what, if anything, has changed, and what services and supports are available then.

If you are interested in taking part in the online survey, please click on the link below, and follow the on-screen instructions:
