Wellness at Your Conference

There are many ways to bring wellness into your event so why not consider including elements that promote health and well-being in your programme.

Our events team can advise and introduce local champions! Explore 4 ways to make mindful meetings a reality.

1. Location, Location, Location

An inspiring environment prompts physical activity, so the choice of host venue is more than just selecting a room.

The University, located within 5 minutes of the city centre, is a prime starting point for exploring the city on foot.

Conference delegates are encouraged to take the campus biodiversity trail which features a guided riverside campus walk including an audio guide of the flora and fauna featured in each location.

2. Food, Glorious Food!

With 16 modern restaurants/cafés and a café bar on campus, there is something to suit all tastes at NUI Galway for visitors.

All of our catering outlets are now predominately single use plastic free and the University also encourages the use of ceramic crockery for all events on campus to ensure less waste is going to landfill.

Visitors are served innovative menus and farm to fork is the motto with all of our caterers sourcing local seasonal produce for conference menus and managing waste minimisation.

3. Weave Wellness into your Event

Attendees now expect health and wellness as an essential component of any event. So we’ve compiled some suggestions to elevate your event to the status of a mindful meeting!

  • Include a 5k morning or evening run along the riverside campus trail or go a little further to the Salthill Promenade to watch the sun rise or set along Galway Bay!

Introduce your delegates to a mindful moment! Embed mindfulness into your programme in a number of different ways including:

  • Start your day with a shared practice of meditation (from 20-45 minutes)
  • Include a presentation or workshop on mindfulness and let delegates know how it affects wellbeing (from 40-90 minutes)
  • Offer a mindful yoga session as an add on, a form of yoga that is accessible regardless of fitness level (from 40-90 minutes)

4. Add an Element of Giving Back - Corporate Social Responsibility

Galway Convention Bureau will work with you to add an element of ‘giving back’ to enhance the overall wellness experience of your delegates and give back to Galway!
