Financial Accounting Office Team
Aoife Tuohy (B.Sc. Acc, FCA), Director Financial Accounts, is responsible for the university's systems of internal financial control, statutory reporting and audit, tax compliance, and for the receipt and payment of all university income and expenditure.
Aoife is a graduate of UCC, and subsequently trained as a chartered accountant with PwC. She has held senior financial positions both in the multinational sector and in the third level educational sector before joining NUI Galway.

Triona Lydon (FCCA, MBA, LIA, LIAP), the Pensions & Investments Officer, is responsible for the management of all university pension schemes and the investment of University funds. Triona is a graduate of NUI Galway and previously held positions in the manufacturing sector with Crown Equipment & Boston Scientific and in the Financial Services sector with HC Financial Services.

Maura Fallon (B.Comm, M.ACC, FCA) is the Senior Financial Accountant with operational responsibility for the University’s income offices including related systems/process development, internal control and reporting. Maura is a graduate of NUI Galway and the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and, after training to be a chartered accountant in the Financial Services group of PWC(Dublin) held senior Plant Forecasting and European Reporting roles in Dell Manufacturing (Limerick).

Tomás Ó Cáinte (B.Comm., FCA) is the Senior Financial Accountant with specific responsibility for the expenditure cycle (including related systems development, internal control/compliance, reporting and process improvement). Tomás is a graduate of NUI Galway and, after training to be a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (subsequently PwC), held senior positions as Corporate Finance Manager with McGrath & Co. Chartered Accountants & Auditors and Business & Planning Manager with Ingersoll Rand/Thermo King Europe.
