Software Statement

All staff and students are advised that they must ensure that any software they are using is appropriately licensed. The University does not condone the use of any software for which the user does not have an appropriate licence; neither does it condone using software in contravention of licence conditions. The University will not accept any liability arising from the illegal use of unlicensed software by any user on any of its systems or networks. There are severe legal penalties for those caught using software illegally. Penalties include fines of up to €127,000 or up to five years in prison, or both.

Please be aware that software downloaded from the World Wide Web will often be subject to licence agreements and anyone downloading such software should ensure that they comply with licence conditions as laid down.

Information Solutions and Services are responsible for ensuring that the software utilised in the public access PC suites complies with the above conditions. It is the responsibility of each member of staff to ensure that they are appropriately licenced for all software on those devices for which they are responsible.
