  1. For newly purchased Dell PCs do not power on until you have been contacted by an ISS technician
  2. If your device was delivered to your home and you already contacted ISS to configure the device for Working from Home but now wish to connect this device to the University of Galway wired network, you will need to create a new ticket with the details of the device, building, office location and network port.
  3. Log on to the Service Desk Ticketing System and create a ticket under the following category. Ticket CategoryPlease provide all the requested information, click  here  for instructions to help you find the required information.
  4. ‌If you are replacing your desktop or laptop and require a temporary folder on a central drive to transfer your data from your old device to new device please indicate this on form
  5. ISS will advise you of the location / folder name for transfer of data
    (please note this is only a temporary share and the contents will be deleted after two weeks)
  6. An ISS technician will contact you to schedule a day/time to remotely configure your new device to the Campus Network. The remote configuration process will take approximately 30mins
  7. Prior to this appointment you will need to un-box and setup your new PC / setup your new Laptop, ( do not power on your PC until instructed to do so by the ISS technician)
  8. Please note that all University owned laptops must be encrypted. This encryption process will be carried out by ISS as part of the above ticket. If you already have a laptop and need to have it encrypted, please raise a ServiceDesk ticket under the category: 

Staff connecting an Apple Mac device to the campus network

  1. Log on to the Service Desk Ticketing System and create a ticket under the following category.Ticket CategoryPlease provide all the requested information,  click here for instructions to help you find the required information.
  2. An ISS technican will contact you to confirm your connection. At this point you can schedule installation with the supplier.

Postgraduates connecting devices to the campus network

  1. If you wish to connect your personal laptop to the campus network you must ensure your laptop meets the following
    requirements:
    1. Windows laptops must have a professional version of Windows installed. How to check what version of Windows is installed on your device.
    2. If you are given a desktop and wish to connect it to the campus network please ensure the device meets ISS minimum requirements for connection to the network. Please check if the desktop has been previously connected to the network, if it has please log a ticket under the category Device Move
    3. Please note ISS are not responsilble for any software/data or issues that occur on personal devices. It is recommended that you connect university owned/approved devices to the network rather than a personal device in all instances

  3. An ISS technician will contact you to schedule a day/time to remotely configure your new device to the Campus Network. The remote configuration process will take approximately 30mins

Process for moving devices on the campus network

  1.
