New Students

New students will receive a welcome email  "Activating your new University of Galway campus account" to your personal email address.

The email will give you your University of Galway email address and a temporary activation password. It also describe the steps new students need to take to activate your new University of  Galway campus account. Your campus account will allow you to access many important services during your time at University of Galway. 

Activating your new University of Galway campus Account

Activate your University of Galway campus account in two steps:

A).  Register for Multi Factor Authentication (MFA)
Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security measure, which ensures that only you will have access to your University of Galway account. You will need a second factor (e.g. your mobile phone) to provide additional verification when you login. Instructions on how to enable MFA for your University of Galway account are here and you can register for MFA here. If you encounter any issues registering for MFA our support pages are found here.

B). Reset your temporary activation password
You must reset your temporay activation password to a new strong password known only by you. You can reset your temporary activation password by using Self Service Password Reset (SSPR). More informaiton can be found here.

Please note that all future communications, including details of how to register for your University of Galway course will be sent to your new University of Galway email address. Please check your new University of Galway email account regularly – you can access your new Office 365 email account here at office.com

Registration - Student Records System

After you have reset your password, you will have completed the activation of your University of Galway campus account and will be able to use this account to access the Student Records System and complete registration. A separate email explaining the steps required to complete registration will emailed to your personal email address.
