Nitya Priya - Medicine

"Choosing to study medicine at NUIG means choosing a university which provides the best, most wholesome student experience. The pre-clinical years consist of an immaculate syllabus which complements the training received in the clinical years. The close partnership with University College Hospital Galway in training medical students is the cornerstone in moulding competent future medical undergraduates who can not only excel as doctors but also in medical research. With an exciting campus life to the very international nature of students from various courses and the academically stimulating lectures and tutorials delivered by well-trained doctors and professors alike, NUIG helps build life experiences, supports growth of character and prepares you for the real world application of your field of undergraduate study. Nadiah Noor Azman - Medicine

Nadiah Noor Azman

Why did you choose NUI Galway? "Medicine is always my passion since childhood. Being a doctor is actually one of the ways to contribute to the public. Honestly, NUI Galway is the only Irish university offered in twinning programme by my previous university in pre-clinical phase. However, I am always fond of pursuing my study in Ireland since Ireland is well-known with its medical course in my country. Hence, I chose NUIG over other universities for my twinning programme."

What was your first day at University like? "My first day was really great. I enjoyed my bridging course conducted by NUIG. I was well-oriented and made clear on my visions while studying in NUIG."

How did you find NUI Galway and Ireland? "The emphasis on the theory is one important component that I love in NUIG. Having a strong foundation in pre-clinical phase is essential before starting the clinical years. Besides that, peaceful environment in Galway is one of the main traits that made Galway stands out from the others as the best place to study!"

Irish culture in 3 words? "Unique, well-preserved, proudful." Galway in 3 words? "Peaceful, friendly, unpredictable."

Medical Applicants

NUI Galway has welcomed students from Malaysia for many years, particularly within the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, where we have a strong tradition of Malaysian students coming to completing their full medical degree over five years.

In addition, the University recently welcomed the first intake of Malaysian students on a twinned medical degree programme offered with the Allianze University College of Medical Sciences (AUCMS), Kapala Batas, in northern Malaysia.

Please contact the Irish University Medical School Consortium (IUMC) for entry requirements for Medicine.
