Welcome to the Irish Centre for Human Rights

Welcome from the Director

As Director of the Irish Centre for Human Rights, I am delighted to welcome you to our website and I hope that you will enjoy learning more about our programmes and the many opportunities for study and research that we offer.

Today, the Irish Centre for Human Rights is one of the world’s premier human rights law centres. Combining research, teaching and practice on human rights law and policy, international criminal justice and peace operations and policy, the Centre is at the cross-roads of today’s most pressing international law issues in law, public policy and practice.

Since its establishment in January 2000, the Centre has developed a global reputation for excellence in the field of human rights teaching, research and advocacy.   Every year we attract high quality students to our acclaimed masters and doctoral programmes.  LLM and PhD students benefit from the dedicated support, professional expertise and world-class teaching of our staff who combine their subject knowledge with extensive ‘real world’ field and public policy experience.

We know that the world of human rights research, advocacy and practice is highly competitive. We work closely with our students to support the development not only of specialised knowledge and expertise, but also of practice oriented skills. Whether your interests are in peace-building, international criminal justice, gender, women’s rights, refugee and migration law and policy or business and human rights, you will find a range of specialised courses at the Irish Centre for Human Rights that will equip you to pursue your goals.

Come join us and be part of a global alumni network of Irish Centre for Human Rights practitioners and scholars who are leaving their mark in the world today.

We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful city and campus.
