The lecture is broadly accessible to a general audience with an interest in philosophy, law, human rights or politics.

About the Annual Lecture
Since 2013, we have had the pleasure of hosting the following speakers for the lecture – philosopher, political activist and social critic, Prof. Noam Chomsky; digital security expert Bruce Schneier; writer, philosopher and philanthropist, Dr. Sigrid Rausing; Czech philosopher and Charter 77 signatory, Prof. Jan Sokol; Nigeria-born lawyer and author, Hauwa Ibrahim Esq.; and American philosopher, Prof. Martha Nussbaum. Topics have covered a range of issues including the responsibility of states to protect human rights actors; the journey from dictatorship to democracy in Czech Republic and the role played by human rights defenders; and online insecurity and the effects on human rights defenders.
