Dates, Entry Requirements & Fees
Application Requirements
Entry is open to graduates who have at least three years of relevant post-graduation business experience. Applications from non-graduates who have a minimum of five years relevant business experience may also be considered. To meet the criteria for relevant experience, prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in areas such as management of projects, leadership of teams or business functions/units, responsibility for budget control, strategic level administration and planning.
All qualifying applicants must attend an interview, after which successful candidates are chosen.
Unfortunately, we do not currently offer a full-time MBA. As this programme is only offered part-time, it does not satisfy the requirements to apply for a visa to study in Ireland, therefore we are not in a position to accept international applications.
International applicants may be interest in our wide range of full time Business Masters programmes, which you can read more about here: https://www.nuigalway.ie/business-public-policy-law/cairnes/courses/taught/
How do I apply?
Application for the MBA programme is made online via our new centralised system. Click here to access our Personal Statement Guidelines.
Candidates are required to submit the following:
- Application form including references and education history
- Personal statement outlining how the programme fits into your career objectives
- CV (maximum 3 pages)
- Other supporting documentation including, but not limited to, university transcripts and birth certificate
When are applications due?
We assess applications throughout the year, and we will continue to do this for September 2021 applications until July/August, it is however recommended to get your application in as soon as possible as places are competitive.
How much does it cost?
For 2020/21 fees were €13,850 per annum for EU students.
EU students have the option of paying their fees in two equal instalments in September and January each academic year.
Non-EU fees were €15,500p.a. in 2020/21.

Blended Activity
Prior to coming on-site, there will be induction activities that will be conducted online. These, in the main, will be prerecorded and you will not need to schedule a specific time for attendance.
In addition to the block dates there will be blended academic content. This will consist of module introductions prior to the on-campus start and academic activity (reviews, discussion, new content, previews) between each block. You can expect this to be about 1 hour per module (4 modules) between blocks.
COVID-19 Considerations
We are an on-campus MBA experience and we plan to deliver as much of the MBA on-campus as we can. The extent to which we can deliver on-campus, will be a factor of the prevailing public health advice (particularly with respect to social distancing) and access to suitable on-site accommodation. As stated, our plan is to be on-campus and much as conditions allow but some of the activity planned, for the dates above, may have to be delivered online. Where this happens we will endeavour to stick to the schedule of dates above. In other words, the session will take place as per the scheduled timetable, just that they will be online.
We will support anyone who may not be able to attend campus due to COVID-19 issues. If you are likely to need to avail of COVID-19 specific accommodations please let us know at the earliest opportunity.
