Programmes Summary

The Discipline of Health Promotion at the University of Galway, offers a number of Specialist Certificates in Health Promotion programmes. These part-time online blended Specialist Certificate programmes take place over one year. All of our programmes are coordinated, assessed and accredited by the University Galway. They are developed and taught in conjunction with a variety of partner organisations (for example, Dental Health Foundation IrelandHealth Services Executive, The National Youth Council of Ireland, Jigsaw)

The primary focus of these programmes is to provide students with a professional education and training in the principles and practice of Health Promotion.

S‌pecialist Certificate in Health Promotion - Youth Health

This Specialist Certificate in Youth Health Promotion is a Level 7 course run in conjunction with the National Youth Council or Ireland and applications are made in the first instance through the National Youth Council of Ireland.

Applications are currently CLOSED for this course - Next intake is planned for 2025-26

Initial application and pre-screening is conducted by the National Youth Council of Ireland

S‌pecialist Certificate in Health Promotion - Youth Mental Health

This Specialist Certificate in Youth Mental Health Promotion is a Level 7 course, jointly developed by Jigsaw, the National Youth Council of Ireland and University of Galway. The course is for professionals working with young people in a range of sectors, who wish to develop greater knowledge, skills and competencies to promote youth mental health in their own work settings.
