Incoming first year students

University Orientation for CMNHS First Year Undergraduate Students will take place ONLINE on Tuesday, September 22nd from 10:30am to 1pm, and ON-CAMPUS on Wednesday, September 23rd from 9am to 7pm (staggered group start times for a total of 6 hours on campus).  The online orientation morning will include information for online learning and available student resources, introductions to student services, and active consent training which is being provided for all incoming first year students. The on-campus orientation day will include a College Welcome, talks from student services on campus such as the Library, a chance to interact with Clubs and Societies, campus tours, and socialising time with lunch. Registration for the on-campus day is available through the YourSpace student platform.

Orientation into your programme will take place separately, and will provide you with an overview of your course requirements and relevant contacts. Available schedules and further information on first year programme-specific orientation can be found on the relevant School sites below. Become exposed to diverse ideas, experiences and people

  • Attend your lectures regularly (online and in-person), Take the opportunities provided to engage and share in learning, Develop study groups, Link with groups on campus and in Galway

Complete the transition to University through supportive peer and staff connections

  • Keep the excitement of first-year throughout your educational journey, Stay on top of your university career, ask for help, give support and encouragement to others
