Biography

Dr. Katherine Dowling is a Post-doctoral Researcher in the Health Promotion Research Centre at NUI Galway who has a special interest in promoting the mental health and wellbeing of child and adolescent populations through social and emotional learning strategies, particularly through educational settings. Katherine played a lead role in the development of the national mental wellbeing programme (MindOut) for young people in both post-primary schools and youth settings and conducted a large scale evaluation of the implementation of the programme in post-primary schools for her PhD research.

In addition to mental health promotion and social and emotional learning, Katherine's other research interests include implementation science, evaluation and knowledge-translation.
