Information Technology

Information Technology is the branch of engineering that deals with the use of computers and telecommunications to retrieve, store and transmit information. Within the University sector NUI Galway has a unique approach to the development of IT research and teaching. It recognises the demand for IT as an individual discipline, it focuses on industry’s needs for software engineering skills and research and it addresses the broader skill needs of the information society in conjunction with other University disciplines.

The programmes below focus on the areas of software engineering and database technologies.  They are delivered in a fully online format with student interaction and examinations taking place entirely online. The support of an online facilitator is a key part of the paced learning cycle used in the delivery of these programmes.  Both programmes are offered in conjunction with Regis University, Denver providing students with an opportunity to study with an international student group.
