Pension Schemes
What Pension Scheme am I a member of?
There are three Defined Benefits Schemes in operation at NUI Galway:

National University of Ireland, Galway (Closed) Pension Scheme 2010 (Joint Pension Scheme) – this applies to staff that commenced employment at NUI Galway on or before 31 Dec 2004.

National University of Ireland, Galway, Pension Scheme 2005 (Model Scheme) – this applies to staff that commenced employment at NUI Galway on or after 1 January 2005 and before 31 December 2012. It also applies to staff members transferring from another public body who were members of an existing public body pension scheme (i.e. other than the SPS) provided the break between employments is less than 26 weeks.

Single Public Service Scheme (SPS - Commonly referred to as Career Average Scheme) - this applies to staff that commenced employment for the first time in the public sector on or after 1 January 2013.
