What Retirement Age applies to me?
(1) New entrants from 1 Jan 2013 enrolled in the “Single Public Service Pension Scheme” (Career Average Pension Scheme):
- Effective 22 December 2020 Circular 24/2020Single Scheme members have an NRA (Normal Retirement Age) of 66. This arrangement applies with immediate effect and until further notice.
- Note: Prior to Circular 24/20 the following applied: Retirement age is initially set at 66 years (from 1 Jan 2014). It will rise in step with statutory SPC age (increases to 67 from 1 Jan 2021 and 68 from 1 Jan 2028).
- SPS Scheme members must retire at the age of 70.
(2) New entrants & Non New Entrants (Pre 1 Jan 2013) enrolled in the “Model /JPS Scheme”:
New Entrant: PUBLIC SERVICE SUPERANNUATION (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 2004
- Minimum retirement Age: 65
- Maximum retirement age: None
Non New Entrant: PUBLIC SERVICE SUPERANNUATION (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 2004/ PUBLIC SERVICE SUPERANNUATION (AGE OF RETIREMENT) ACT 2018:
- Minimum Retirement: Age 60
- Maximum Retirement: Age 70
PUBLIC SERVICE SUPERANNUATION (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 2004 Section 2 defines a new entrant as “..... a person who is not serving in a public service body......... on 31 March 2004 but becomes a public servant on or after 1 April 2004”
