Spatial Analysis and Land Use

Co-Director: Dr Chaosheng Zhang (School of Geography and Archaeology, NUI Galway)

soilThe spatial heterogeneity feature is a fact existing in any aspect of the world, including both natural environment and human society. Such a feature requires modelling at the spatial level. Our research focuses on spatial analyses of socio-economic and environmental variables, including chemicals and nutrients in soils, using geographical information system (GIS), geostatistics and other spatial statistical and modelling techniques, to identify hotspots and quantify spatial variation, with applications in environmental management and precision agriculture.
