Research Scholarships

There are several research scholarship programmes that would suit excellent candidates who are interested in conducting PhD research in Galway. Because their deadlines are staged, you can apply for them in succession.

1. Hardiman and Ryan Research Scholarships: Fully funded for 4 years, with a stipend of €16,000 p.a. plus fees, available in University of Galway only. Application details and further information avaialble at  https://www.universityofgalway.ie/hardiman-scholarships/

2. Irish Research Council Scholarships: The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme and the Enterprise Partnership Scholarship Scheme. More information here.

3. University of Galway Scholarships:  : The University awards a limited number of scholarships each year. More information  https://www.universityofgalway.ie/postgraduate_scholarships/

Application procedures differ for each programme, but in all cases you should begin by identifying and contacting a member of academic staff whose research interests are aligned with yours, to discuss potential research project topics.
