Dancing Bodies and Subatomic Particles: Creating Interdisciplinary Performances
In the era of TED talks and immersive presentations, performative science has developed as a unique niche within the art world, and stimulated new networks between the arts and other academic divisions on campuses in higher education. Deidre Cavazzi, Dance Department Chair at Saddleback College in Southern California, will speak about her work designing performance projects that are cross-disciplinary and bring together diverse communities and audiences. Her recent collaborations have involved physicists, architects, geologists, mathematicians, chemists and botanists, and helped inspire students to make connections between the arts and STEM fields through multimedia performances and campuswide activities. She will share tools for initiating interdisciplinary projects, as well as models for performance design and multi-departmental events. Toxic Organic Contaminants in our Environment
The Ryan Institute Centre for One Health (COH) will host their second Annual Conference ‘Toxic Organic Contaminants in Our Environment' on September 20th 2019 in the O’Donoghue Center at NUI Galway.
The conference’s overarching objective is to promote awareness of issues relating to the presence of toxic organic contaminants within the Irish environment. This will be achieved by bringing together relevant stakeholders in Irish industry and policy-making sectors with researchers actively investigating the sources, pathways and impacts of toxic organic contaminants on the Irish environment. By so doing, it will help establish networks and foster knowledge exchange between stakeholder groups to help develop solutions to problems associated with toxic organic contaminants.
Further details are available at the Conference Website.
Location: O’Donoghue Center at NUI Galway
Time: 08:00 - 17:00
