The Centre seeks to promote our ability to prevent and respond to man-made (e.g. crime, conflict and terrorism) and natural threats (e.g. extreme weather events leading to flooding and food crisis) to the peace and security of citizens. Such threats are constantly evolving, requiring dynamic and agile responses.

In partnership with statutory services at home and abroad, and with industry, we will identify and develop innovative responses to threats to the peace and security of citizens (Partnership). Our activities will be characterized by an on-going focus on new and emerging threats (Agility), enhancing prevention and response through interdisciplinary research (Excellent Science) and maximizing innovation and commercialisation opportunities relating to products, systems and processes (Innovation).

One of our recent research successes is the Horizon 2020 research project ROCSAFE, coordinated by Dr Michael Madden of NUI Galway.
