Hilary Jordan

Hilary Jordan is a lecturer within the School of Home Economics. She is a graduate of University College, Galway (1988) with a B.Sc. degree in Microbiology and University College, Cork (1992) with an M.Sc. degree in biotechnology. Hilary has previously worked as a microbiologist; biochemist and technical specialist in various food and diagnostic/pharmaceutical industries. Hilary also has a professional qualification as a medical scientist in microbiology and is eligible for membership with its professional body; ACSLM. Hilary has worked in both the clinical microbiology and public health laboratory settings.

Hilary is particularly interested in microbes that have undesirable effects on the safety and quality of food. This includes food safety and hygiene, food poisoning and the stress response in food processing and preservation.
