Evelyn is a lecturer and researcher within the Department of Nursing, Health Sciences and Disability Studies. She has held various positions in Nursing Education both in the UK and Ireland. She was at the forefront of developing post graduate nursing education at a local level. She is a graduate of The Royal College of Nursing, London and University of Manchester with a BSc (hons) and also an MSc in Nursing. Evelyn has previously worked on projects which gained funding from the Lifelong learning initiative within the EU.  She is currently completing study toward the award of PhD in Nursing & Midwifery with Trinity College, Dublin. Along with administration tasks she continues to teach across nursing programmes. She has a keen interest in supporting learning and enhancing the range of experiences that students of nursing encounter.  She is currently undertaking Doctoral studies in TCD.


Evelyn’s research interests include elderly, European nursing, intercultural studies, rheumatoid arthritis, spirituality.

2002 - A phenomenological study exploring pre-registration nursing students’ perceptions of supernumerary status

2011 - A question of faith - The relevance of faith and spirituality in health care.  A study investigating how faith, spiritual and cultural needs were catered for in one section of the North West of Ireland.

2013 - Indian Nurses’ experience of academic education in Ireland. A study exploring the experiences of internationalisation and interculturalisation from the perspective of Indian nurses studying in Ireland.

2018 - 2019 A Qualitative descriptive study exploring a non-Traditional Learning Experience for Baccalaureate Nursing Students.

Current Research: Utilising a Classical Grounded Theory approach to enquire about the Main Concerns of persons who have Rheumatoid Arthritis in Ireland.
