TMDLab
Welcome to Translational Medical Device Lab
DEVELOPING NEW MEDICAL DEVICES TO IMPROVE PATIENT CARE
The Translational Medical Device Lab (TMD-Lab) was established in 2015 and is the first medical device lab in Ireland to be embedded in a regional hospital (University College Hospital Galway) and co-located with a clinical research facility. Locating the medical device lab within the hospital gives the team unique access to clinical expertise and patients, and a clear opportunity to identify real unmet clinical needs in a hospital setting. The TMD-Lab seeks to bridge the gap between industry and academia by adopting industry best-practice in device development and supporting the MedTech sector in both device design and clinical evaluation of novel devices.
