Conference Format: World Café Style

Maximum Engagement

Our Undergraduate Research Conference will take a very special format to ensure maximum student engagement. You certainly will not fall asleep!

World Café Style is a a brilliant opportunity for voices to be heard and shared in small groups at round tables. Once the bell rings, participants get up and move to the next table. It's that easy!

No slides to worry about and no speaking to a large group from a podium at the top of a big room. Instead, in the small group you will have the chance to confidently communicate your research.  If you want to bring along a visual or make a poster - fantastic! Just let us know so we can help you with printing and copies for all.

How to Write an Abstract

This blog is great and ‘Dr Karen’ has a good entry on writing a proposal abstract.

1) big picture problem or topic widely debated in your field.

2) gap in the literature on this topic.

3) your project filling the gap.

4) the specific material that you examine in the paper.

5) your original argument.

6) a strong concluding sentence.

Come along to our Pre-Conference Workshops!

We will be running a series of conference preparation workshops for speakers to gain confidence and experience.
