Grant applications:
  • Giuseppe, Bharat, Davood each submitted IRC Postgraduate Scholarships this year.
  • Mark, Michel (two applicants), Bharat each submitted IRC Postdoctoral Fellowship applications.
  • Pilib is a co-applicant (with Cynthia Coleman, Medicine) on an SFI Frontiers for the Future Project.
  • Bharat submitted a grant proposal to SFI-National Challenge Funding in the subcategory Future Digital Challenge.
News:
  • Mark Ryder (PhD student with Mark) has been selected to attend the Gemini Autumn School on Quantum Computation in Oslo;
  • Eamon McAndrew joined Pilib's group as a Research Assistant on a three-month contract supported by the College of Science and Engineering Strategic Research (Millennium) Fund. 
  • Pilib joined the Programme Committee for the 30th Irish Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science (AICS2022) which will be held from December 8th-9th at Munster Technological University.
  • Pilib is advertising three postdoctoral positions in his group in cancer genomics/bioinformatics. These positions are funded through DTIF and HEA North-South Shared Research Programme awards.
  • Sarah Ennis (PhD student with Pilib) has started a 3-month placement at Simon Haas's group at MDC Berlin (BIMSB). 
  • Sarah gave a poster presentation at the Single Cell Genomics 2022 Meeting, held from October 17th-19th in Utrecht. 
  • Pierre Murchan (PhD student with Pilib) gave a poster presentation at the Trinity St. James's Cancer Institute International Conference held from 13th-14th October in Dublin and also at the European Thoracic Oncology Platform Residential Workshop in Amsterdam held Nov 3rd-4th.
  • Karen Guerrero Vazquez (PhD student with Pilib) gave a poster presentation at the Mathematics of life: modelling molecular mechanisms course 2022 held (online) by the European Molecular Biology Lab-European Bioinformatics Institute on September 15th.
  • Shane O'Connell (PhD student with Pilib) gave a poster presentation at the Genetics and Genomics Sciences retreat in the New York Academy of Science on Oct 7th.
  • Bharat gave a talk entitled "Shear Shock Waves in Concussions" to a cohort of 40-50 primary, and secondary school teachers on 01/10/2022 at the Teachers in Residence programme organised by CÚRAM.

  • Michel gave a talk at the Mechanics Seminar, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China (online), a plenary lecture at the Fifth International Conference on Recent Advances in Nonlinear Mechanics, Hangzhou, China (online), and a talk at the Séminaire de Mécanique, Université de Bordeaux, France (in-person).
  • Michel was External Examiner for a PhD thesis and viva (online) at IIT Roorkee, Roorkee, India.
  • Sairam (PhD student with Michel and Valentina) went to a networking event organised by his Marie Skłodowska Curie Doctoral Network in Madrid, Spain.
  • Michael McG gave an invited keynote talk on "What is a Quantum Game" at the 12th "Days on Computational Game Theory", University of Bremen (Germany), September 29-30 2022.
