Background

The Irish Centre for Applied Patient Safety and Simulation is made up of a group of academics and clinicians from NUI Galway and the Saolta University Healthcare Group with an interest in research to improve patient safety and quality of care.

The centre has five main objectives:

  1. to promote a systems approach to patient safety and quality of care;
  2. to conduct, report and disseminate research and information on patient safety;
  3. to contribute to the improvement of patient safety and quality of care in the Irish health care system; and
  4. to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate educational and training activities in patient safety and simulation.
