Welcome to the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences
The College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences comprises of three schools: Health Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Medicine. We prepare healthcare practitioners to be the best in their field, across programmes at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Postdoctoral levels.
We work closely with our clinical partners to provide programmes that are grounded in clinical expertise and cutting-edge research, to best prepare students to meet the challenges of a changing healthcare environment. At postgraduate level our programmes offer flexible and innovative learning technologies to meet the needs of working practitioners.
Our Research strives to improve healthcare, bringing tangible benefits to health and healthcare regionally, nationally and internationally.

Message from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, NUI Galway. The college comprises of the School of Health Sciences, the School of Medicine and the School of Nursing and Midwifery. NUI Galway has a long and proud tradition of serving the local, national and global communities by educating the healthcare providers of the future. Working with colleagues across the college, healthcare systems and in particular the Saolta University Healthcare Group we aim to optimise the education of our future healthcare providers.
The success of our education programmes is recognised by prestigious scholarship schemes such as the Henry Hutchinson Stewart Medical Scholarships and we will strive to continue and expand on our traditional success in this and other scholarships.
The College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences will continue to promote excellence and international competitiveness in selected research areas. We will pursue an innovation agenda with a focus on generation of impact. Our research themes will be aligned with University and National priority areas and approaches will emphasise collaboration between our college members, hospitals and industry. We will continue to enhance patient care and contribute to economic recovery in Ireland through our research performance.

Driven by Research
The College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is a research intensive college. We strive for research of high quality that brings societal impact in the form of tangible benefits to patients, populations and to health and healthcare in our region and beyond.
To achieve this we aim to capitalise on our position at the interface of academic endeavour and the health sector and to pursue high quality individual research activity and effective collaboration across our three schools and their disciplines.
