School of Psychology

Welcome to the School of Psychology. The School is housed in a purpose-built facility in the centre of campus. We are dynamic, innovative and internationally recognised for our teaching, research, and contribution to the wider community.

Our School features a suite of professionally accredited undergraduate and postgraduate  programmes. We have approximately 1000 students enrolled on undergraduate degrees and higher diploma programmes. We provide MSc programmes in Health Psychology and Applied Behavioural Analysis, a range of PhD programmes and a Doctor of Psychological Science in Clinical Psychology..

There are two research streams in the School: Brain & Behaviour, and Health & Wellbeing. In recent years, researchers from within these streams have participated in acquiring major national and international funding awards and our School continues to develop a strong profile in quantity and quality of research output.

Undergraduates

Our School aims to provide a high quality teaching and learning environment for all our students, with the objective of preparing undergraduate and postgraduate students to the highest academic standard through an engaging curriculum.

Our undergraduate programmes have been successfully validated through professional accreditation and peer review. We have provided a professionally accredited undergraduate programme, since the School was founded in 1971.

We have almost 900 students enrolled on our undergraduate programmes. Our students have access to excellent physical resources, occupying a new purpose-built Psychology Building in the heart of the campus.

Postgraduates

Our School has an established track record in offering professionally accredited postgraduate programmes, with a particular focus on providing specialised training in health psychology, clinical psychology, and Applied Behaviour Analysis.

We also have a strong international research profile in two thematic areas, Brain & Behaviour and Health & Well Being and have a large cohort of PhD students actively engaged in research in these areas. Students registered on our Structured PhD programmes, form a key part of our research groups and a range of scholarly activities are available within the school to promote research discussion and knowledge exchange. PhD students also have access to excellent physical resources, within our purpose-built Psychology Building in the heart of the campus.

International Students

In the School of Psychology approximately 100 visiting students from around the world take our modules each semester. We offer about 20 different modules over the course of the academic year to our visiting students. These range from foundational introductory courses to specialised final year electives. Therefore there is the opportunity for our visiting students to experience the full breadth and richness of psychological science during their time with us.
