SFI-Funded Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr Claire Houston Headshot

Dr Claire Houston joined the Molecular Parasitology Laboratory in 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher, shortly after completing her PhD at Queen’s University Belfast. Her PhD researched the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying pulmonary exacerbations of Cystic Fibrosis, with a particular focus on the airway host innate immune and microbiological responses during these clinical events. Prior to this, she also studied her BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry at Queen’s University Belfast. Claire has a strong research interest in understanding how the innate immune response becomes dysregulated during inflammatory lung diseases to inform novel therapeutics for these diseases. She joined the Molecular Parasitology Laboratory to study the potential therapeutic applications of immunomodulatory helminth-derived peptides for inflammatory lung diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis and COPD.
