The Discipline of Surgery delivers teaching programmes for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate surgical trainees.	A Research Laboratory is located in the CSI. It supports several research specialities and provides research training for medical and science students and graduates	Consultants, NCHDs and research fellows are involved in clinical and academic activites at University Hospital, Merlin Park Regional Hospital and other hospitals in the West/Northwest of Ireland
