Dr Orlaith O’Reilly is the Clinical Lead for the Integrated Care Programme for the Prevention and Management of Chronic Disease.

Her special interests have included policy and service development in cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic disease management and health information. She has been the Director of Public Health in the South Eastern region of Ireland between 1995 and 2014. She was appointed as the National Clinical Advisor and Programme Group Lead, Health and Wellbeing/Clinical Strategy and Programmes in 2014 and National Clinical Advisor Chronic Disease in 2019.

She will join the CDP_CDP Executive Programme Advisory Board and with her leadership role in national planning in relation to prevention and self-management of chronic conditions she is ideally placed to provide high-level guidance for the successful delivery of the programme and direction of the research across PhD projects. As National Clinical Advisor, Orlaith is in a unique postion to act as a national gatekeeper to facilitate the research of the CDP-CDP trainees. Her collaboration will ensure that the proposed research is of relevance to the Irish healthcare system to ensure the research can impact on national priorities.
