| Dr Romina Gaburro obtained her MSc (Italian Laura) in Mathematics from the Università degli Studi di Trieste, Italy and her PhD in Mathematics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK in 2004. Following her PhD, she worked as a Research Fellow at the Università degli Studi di Trieste for one year, followed by a four years Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Senior Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Limerick (UL). She is currently a Lecturer in Applied Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at UL, where she is also the Director for Postgraduate studies. She is the Research Representative for the Department in the Science and Engineering Faculty Research Committee, the country coordinator for Ireland in the European Women in Mathematics (EWM) organisation and the Irish ambassador for the International Mathematical Union (IMU) Committee for Women in Mathematics (CWM). Romina's research area is in inverse problems, partial differential equations and their applications to imaging and material properties identification. | |
Dr. Noemi Picco |

| Noemi is a lecturer in Mathematics at Swansea University. She has a background in engineering and applied mathematics. After completing her undergraduate studies at Politecnico di Torino (Italy), she obtained her DPhil in mathematics at the University of Oxford. She works at the interface between mathematics and biology, with a main focus on mathematical modelling of health and disease. Noemi uses a range of theoretical and computational tools to describe the dynamical interactions occurring at different spatial and temporal scales, with applications in brain development and cancer research. She is also actively working on ways to integrate experimental data into mathematical models in order to quantitatively describe the processes of interest and make testable predictions. | |
