Irish Traditional Music
There are a number of regular Irish traditional music sessions every evening. Taaffes and Tig Cóilí, both on Shop Street, have an early evening session (c.5.30-8.00pm). The Crane Bar and Cóilís have a later session at 10.00pm – there might be a little more room at the session upstairs in the Crane. Monroe’s Tavern has a session every Friday, 4:30-7:00 and live music from 9:30 pm every night. Keep an eye out for ad hoc sessions in other establishments such as Carroll's and an Púcán too.

What the organising committee recommend:

“Pour les courageux-euses, apportez vos maillots afin de nager à Salthill et réchauffez-vous par la suite avec un café pour emporter chez Blackrock Cottage/Álainn.  Ne manquez surtout pas la chance de magasiner au Charlie Byrne’s pour une sélection incontournable de littérature irlandaise et de livres usagés.”
                                                                                    -Gabrielle

“For those still around on a Saturday morning, the Galway market, next to St. Nicholas’ Church is an essential stop for visitors to the city. Beautiful locally-grown produce, handmade crafts and local food all in one atmospheric space. If you’re going to get one thing, try the doughnuts! If you’re there later in the afternoon, sneaking up to Sheridan’s wine bar for a cheeseboard is a lovely way to round off your afternoon!”
                                                                                       -John

Galway is home to a dynamic food scene; there are plenty of places to choose from, but the list below includes some of the organising committee’s favourites. Wherever you choose, we recommend you book ahead (where applicable).
