NUI Galway has generous scholarships valued at €1,500 for students applying for full-time taught postgraduate courses. You will be eligible to apply if you have been accepted to a full-time taught course at NUI Galway, and have attained a first class honours (or equivalent) in a Level 8 primary degree. Old and Middle Irish Scholarship
Scoláireacht an Ollaimh Gearóid Mac Eoin
This Scholarship was founded in 2015 to honour the contribution to Celtic scholarship, and to the National University of Ireland, Galway of Professor Emeritus Gearóid Mac Eoin, Professor of Old and Middle Irish and Celtic Philology from 1966 to 1994, and each scholarships is valued at €1,500.
Graduates who have achieved a First Class Honours BA degree in Irish, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, or Celtic Studies, in Ireland or elsewhere, are eligible to apply. The Scholarship will be awarded on a competitivc basis to the First Class Honours graduate with the highest marks of those who apply in the particular year.
The Scholarship may be held with other Scholarships or Grants awarded by the University or by an external body. The Scholarship will be tenable only at the National University of Ireland, Galway for the full-time Taught MA in Old and Middle Irish, and only in the Session in which it is awarded.
You are required to register as a student of the University by the due registration date, and to remain registered until the end of the academic year in which the Scholarship is awarded. If the holder withdraws from the course for which she/he has registered before the end of the academic year, or fails to continue throughout the Scssion to meet the attendance and other requirements of the course, she/he will be required to repay to the University the whole or any part of the Scholarship as the Finance/ Resource Committee of Udarás na hOllscoile may decide.

The School of Computer Science, Advanced MSc Scholarship
NUI Galway, School of Computer Science is offering one Scholarship for the MSc in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) or MSc Computer Science (Data Analytics) commencing September 2020; this scholarship, up to the value of the tuition fees, is awarded to the highest ranked graduate of the BSc Computer Science & IT undergraduate programme (GY350). This is open to all current final year students due to graduate in 2020, and all previous graduates of the programme. The Colm Ó hEocha Bursary
This Bursary has been established in memory of Dr Colm Ó hEocha, President, NUI Galway (then University College Galway) 1975–1995. Dr. Ó hEocha had previously been the University’s first Professor of Biochemistry from 1963. He also served as the Chair of the New Ireland Forum, of the Science Council of Ireland, of the Arts Council and of the Interim Local Radio Commission. Dr. Ó hEocha was the recipient of honorary doctorates from Queen’s University Belfast, Dublin University, University of Limerick and Connecticut College.
The Bursary has a value of €3,000 and will be awarded annually to the NUI Galway graduate who has registered for a Taught Masters Programme in the University provided through Irish* and who has, in her/his primary degree taken at NUI Galway, obtained the highest overall percentage of those eligible.
The Bursary may be held with any other Grant, Scholarship of Bursary.
*The Dean of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies will determine annually the list of eligible programmes.
Sparánacht Choilm Uí Eocha
Bunaíodh an Sparánacht seo i gcuimhne an Dr Colm Ó hEocha, Uachtarán OÉ Gaillimh (Coláiste na hOllscoile Gaillimh ag an am) 1975–1995. Bhí an Dr Ó hEocha ar an gcéad Ollamh le Bithcheimic san Ollscoil sa bhliain 1963. Chomh maith leis sin bhí sé ina Ollamh ar Fhóram Nua-Éireann, ar Chomhairle Eolaíochta na hÉireann, ar an gComhairle Ealaíon agus ar an gCoimisiún Eatramhach Raidió Áitiúil. Bhronn Ollscoil na Banríona, Béal Feirste, Ollscoil Bhaile Átha Cliath, Ollscoil Luimnigh agus Coláiste Connecticut céimeanna oinigh ar an Dr Ó hEocha.

Universities Ireland North/South Postgraduate Scholarships
Universities Ireland are offering four scholarships to students who have been accepted to undertake a recognised Master’s degree or are entering the first year of a PhD programme at a university in the island of Ireland that is not in the same jurisdiction as the university where they have previously studied. Government of Ireland Scholarships
Scholarships are open to students from outside the EU/EEA and provide an individual stipend of €10,000 and full fee waiver to 60 beneficiaries for one full year study on a (Bachelor), Master or PhD programme. Information here.

On offer a scholarship of up to €5000 to help cover tuition fees. The scholarship will be awarded for the autumn semester of 2020 and is open to students from any country who will be studying a Master’s degree abroad at a European university. More information here.

(Limited Programmes) Fees Scholarship Support
As a further effort to enhance access and participation opportunities for unemployed and low income groups, NUI Galway has approved a Scholarship Scheme to reduce fees for applicants in receipt of Job Seekers Benefit, Job Seekers Allowance, One-Parent Family Payment, Disability Allowance, Community Employment Scheme, Carer’s Allowance, or Social Insurance Contribution Credits, who wish to enrol for part-time degree, Diploma and Masters courses provided by the University, and who meet Department of Social Protection income thresholds.

Global Study Awards
The Global Study Awards recognises studying abroad as a positively life changing experience for many students, opening their minds to alternative ways of personal life and professional career, as well as promoting intercultural understanding and tolerance.
The Award prize will be applied toward the cost of tuition fees in the first instance, paid directly to the Higher Education Institution that the successful candidate will attend.
If tuition fees are below the maximum individual award fund of £10,000, the remaining funds may be allocated per diem for living costs for a maximum of 52 weeks starting from when the student first registered at the higher education institution. Awards are to a maximum value of £10,000
Postgrad Study Bursaries
If you are starting a postgraduate course in the academic year 2020–21 you are eligible to apply for a Postgrad Solutions Study Bursary. Each bursary is worth Stg £500 and they are open to students from anywhere in the world. Full information here.
