Neurodevelopmental Disorders: People, Policies, and Practices

Neurodevelopmental disorders occur during the developmental period of a child’s life and are characterised by significant developmental challenges in social, cognitive, communication, behavioural, educational or occupational functioning. Children with neurodevelopmental disorders may experience pervasive lifelong challenges with motor functioning, learning, language and/or non-verbal communication. The interaction of these difficulties may lead to obstacles participating in everyday life activities.
