    CURRENT Student Starting after 1st March 2021- if you are due to register on and from 1st March 2021, please see flyer for info.
    NEW for 21/22:  If you are due to start from September 2021 - you do not need to register now. Online registration will open in August for the new academic year 2021/2022. Registration Information will follow later this Summer ahead of term. This will be sent to the email address provided on your postgraduate application.

How to Register Now - (for students who were attending but did not register for their course prior to March 2021)

  1. COLLEGE PERMISSION: Obtain Permission from College / School and  forward to reghelp@nuigalway.ie 
  2. FEES: Contact the Fees Office at fees@nuigalway.ie .   Once the Fees Office have cleared you to register, email reghelp@nuigalway.ie with confirmation of same.
  3. STUDENT: In order for us to manually register you, we require your authorisation, please reply to this email if you want to register and accept the Universities Terms & Conditions.

    I am hereby bound by the Terms & Conditions set out in the attached link and by emailing reghelp@nuigalway.ie  I confirm by consent.
    Student ID card: Once registered and a suitable photo uploaded (by logging into your student portal here), your student ID card will be posted to your home address unless otherwise instructed. Please make sure you home address is correct on your student portal.  
    Module selection: After online registration has closed, you must get permission to add or delete modules to your curriculum from your College Office. Please email reghelp@nuigalway.ie with the permission and relevant changes and we will update your record.  Please include your student ID number on all correspondence. 
    NOTE: If your *area of research does not appear on your student portal once registered, please email the research discipline code e.g. Medicine MD701 to reghelp@nuigalway.ie for addition. Please include your student ID number on all correspondence.
    *Your area of Research will have 0 ects beside it, this is used for tracking your area of research and your discipline.
    You can log in to your student portal and view your curriculum / modules selection at any time.

FAQs

What is Registration?

Registration is the collection and maintenance of student data. All information is stored centrally on the Student Record System. All students at NUI Galway must register ONLINE to become students of the University each year, this is obligatory.

When do I Register ?

Online Registration opens each year in August/September, dates confirmed nearer the start of term. You cannot register before your relevant opening date.
You will receive an email from registration a few days before Online Registration opens inviting you to register online.  During this time, students should register as soon as possible for their progamme to gain access to University services such as Student ID Card, Library, Blackboard, Access to rooms etc.

 

How do I Register Now

Online Registration is now closed for the 20/21 Academic Year, the following is required for us to manually register you:

What is my login ?

 Your logon is a combination of a Username and Password.  Your Username is your student ID number.  Password details will be noted in your welcome email‌.  

Once registered, it is vital that you setup your Campus Account - See link  http://www.nuigalway.ie/information-solutions-services/services-for-students/  for info.  
 

I am a past student of this University, do I get a new ID number?

No.  Please note that it is NUI Galway policy to retain your full student history under your first (or old) NUI Galway ID number. You will therefore be required to register using your existing NUI Galway student number and  should not register using your  application number.

How do I select subjects / modules?

To add MODULES to your curriculum after online registration has closed - please contact the College Office, as we require their permission to make any changes to your record.

*Structured/Research Phd’s: Please ensure your area of research is on your student portal.

Where do I get my course timetable ?

All queries regarding course handbooks, timetables, and module selection ( including quotas) should be directed to the department or College Office 

I didnt upload a photo online, what will I do?

You can email a suitable photo to regphotos@nuigalway.ie noting your student ID number in the subject title of the email.

 

I would like to update my home address but I am not allowed to do so on my Student Portal.

To update your home address e-mail askregistry@nuigalway.ie stating your ID number, your old address and your current address.

How can I check if I have registered correctly?

You can check your registration record at any time on your Student Portal- here .

Can I register without paying fees?

  • Yes, when the online registration window is open. You can register without paying fees as you will have a  'pay now' or  'pay later' option available to you.  
  • If you are in receipt of a SUSI grant, you  must provide your SUSI reference number (in the format W1XXXXXXXXXXX) when you complete your online registration details.  If you are unable to provide your SUSI reference number when confirming your place, please email  reghelp@nuigalway.ie .  Failure to provide same may result in non payment of your grant.
