Build your Proposal
Writing a proposal is a sizeable task, with lots of moving parts and things to consider. While funders have one deadline, there are other timelines as well for you to consider so that you can get as much support as possible to help you write a successful application.
Top tips
2. Schedule ample time to create your proposal.
3. Be aware of internal deadlines, that way the Research Office will have time to review your proposals.
Internal Deadlines - what you need to know.
While funding agencies have their own deadlines, please take note below of the important Internal Deadlines required for Proposal support. It's important to note that strict internal deadlines are in place for the benefit of researchers. These allow time for budget review, proposal review and proposal preparation support.
Clinical Research Facility - CRF- 4 weeks regulated clinical trial where NUI Galway is sponsor (drug or medical device), 3 weeks for non-interventional clinical study
Tenders - 3 weeks notification of request only to RO
HRB - TMRN- 2 weeks
Research Accounts- RAO - 2 weeks - please use the "Budget Template"
Research Office - RO - 1 week.
There is a dedicated Research Support Officer for each college. Their role is to support researchers in navigating the research funding landscape and offer proposal preparation to enhance the competitiveness of submissions. Please pop to the Fund Your Research page to see their names.

As a university community we are deeply committed to sustainability; we have identified sustainability as one of our four core values. At an institutional level, sustainability is a key pillar of our new Strategic Plan: Shared Vision, Shaped by Values and NUI Galway is a signatory to the SDG Accord. Against this back-drop and clear commitment from University leadership and our wider University community, our multi-disciplinary Community and University Sustainability Partnership (CUSP) team has led the development of a revised sustainability strategy. The National University of Ireland Galway Sustainability Strategy 2021-2025 reframes and affirms our ambition in sustainability, recognising that sustainability is now a core value of our institution.
