Use University File Stores

University file stores (U: Drive, M & N Drive and Q: Drives) are good places to store files. They are designed to protect your files, and to ensure they are regularly and frequently backed up. See here for more information.

Your University of Galway OneDrive account allows staff / students sync their data to the cloud. It can also be used to store files, share files, and retrive them from any device. See here for more information. Online store files such as Dropbox, Google Drive and other third party storage services fall outside of the universities remit and are not supported by ISS.

Use University Office 365 Email

Your work email contains sensitive information. Any correspondence concerning staff or students is considered 'sensitive' university data and should therefore be handled via University of Galway Email accounts only.  Protect your email by using the University of Galway's Office 365 Email service for University business. Never forward your University email to non-University email services.  See here for more information on getting started with your University of Galway Office 365 / Email account.

Protect University Passwords

You must protect your University passwords. Keep your keyboard sheilded when you are typing them. Someone may be watching, or filming, what you type. Never reveal your passwords. Remember, ISS or any other department within University of Galway DO NOT and WILL NEVER request details of your password by email or ask you if your account is still in use via email. If you receive any message or correspondence of this nature, report it to ISS Service Desk in the first instance, and then delete it without response,
