Security
Security Services is located at No. 14 Distillery Road (150 metres from the AIB Bank Newcastle) in the centre of the campus. The control centre is open 24/7 with security on patrol round the clock.
You can contact the Security Office by email at securityo@nuigalway.ie but we would always urge people to call us on 091 493333 (Ext.3333) in emergency situations.
For emergencies - Ambulance/Fire/Gardaí: telephone 999/112
The Security team can assist you with access control, bicycle security, building locations, problem reporting, personal security, traffic management and key distribution (if you wish to request keys contact your Buildings & Estates Liaisons to log a request on Pemac or to follow up on a request already submitted.)
Visitors to the Security Lodge on Distillery Road are always welcome, however, mindful of the Covid-19 pandemic we have had to take a few precautionary steps to ensure the safety of our Security staff and visitors. Similar to the arrangements you will have seen in busy environments across society we now have a 2m queue management system leading to the entrance of the Security offices. Visitors are asked to observe the 2m ground markings and queue to gain access to the building. At the front of the queue there is a computer monitor in the window of the building which allows visitors to check that the entrance corridor and clocking/key extraction centre are empty. Please do not enter until both are vacant to help us ensure that the 2m physical distancing zone recommended by the Government is respected.
It is important to note that all access control requests must first be approved in accordance with the University Covid-19 protocol Specific Purpose Access to Campus Buildings/Facilities. Access card privileges will not be granted by security without this approval.
