Remote Access to IT Services
Remote Access to IT Services
This webpage outlines the University's remote access capabilities for Students and Staff.
Remote Access for Students
Students, you can access the following University IT Services off-campus by using your Campus Account credentials:
- Blackboard
- Library
- Microsoft Office365 - Email, OneDrive files, SharePoint Online and Teams*
- Academic Web Services (Past Exam Papers and Personal Exam timetable)
- Files on U-Drive
- Service Desk Ticketing
Please note that some discipline-specific software may not be available from off-campus, so you should liaise with your module and programme coordinators to understand what options or alternatives may be available.
Remote Access for Staff
Staff can access the following University IT Services off-campus by using their Campus Account * credentials:
- Blackboard
- Library
- Microsoft Office365 - Email, OneDrive files, SharePoint Online and Teams*
- Financial Management - Agresso Web *
- Core Portal - Employee Self Service
- Student Records System - Quercus Web Portal *
- Curriculum Manager - Akari
- Service Desk Ticketing
Note: * Agresso and Quercus credentials are separate to your Campus Account credentials

Web-based SSL VPN
NUI Galway provides a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service to allow staff to make a secure encrypted connection to the NUI Galway network from a remote location i.e. home or abroad. The following services are available from the MyFiles Service via a supported Web Browser.
- U-Drive Files
- M-Drive Files
- T4 Content Management System
- Internal NUI Galway Website
- Staff Intranet
- Exam Modelling Tool (EMT) - Please use the left/right arrows to move the VPN session window in the top right corner of the screen. By default this is covering the EMT Login option.
Client-based SSL VPN
The following systems will require a VPN client:
- Agresso Back Office
- Core Back Office
- Quercus Back Office
- Oracle Discoverer Reporting Services
- All other applications installed on a personal device
To request remote access to your device, please follow the instructions for the SSL VPN with an RDP connection at the following webpage.
If you avail of an IT service that is not listed above and you are unsure whether you can access it remotely, please contact the ISS Service Desk via our ticketing system or call 091 495777.
